Severus Snape is initially a Potions teacher but eventually becomes Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. He used to be bullied by James Potter, which he takes out on Harry Potter. Dolores Umbridge is made Head of Hogwarts for a while when Dumbledore is away. She forces Harry Potter to write lines saying "I must not tell lies," where he uses a quill that draws from his own blood. Umbridge gets her comeuppance later in the series.
