About This Article
"Teamfight Tactics" is one of the best timesucks on the Internet. Why? Not only do you get to occupy whatever time you had to waste, but you get to exercise that beautiful space between your ears by escaping into the arena where creatures from almost every genre imaginable do battle under your command to see if you can be the king of the ring. Sounds easy, right?
The thing is even if you think you have an amazing squad of champions ready to throw down with the others, inevitably, you somehow end up either missing by a hair or running in the middle of the pack. Which in turn drives you to play "just one more game." Even though you think that you may have a strategy in mind, with so many different champions in play, the situational factors are always evolving and changing. And then add the seven others trying to achieve that same goal and it can be downright stressful!
Having a solid strategy is an absolute must in TFT, but how does someone achieve this with all the chaos? Easy! By researching every nook and cranny on the web to get insights from others that have had better luck. Speaking of luck, we've done some of the legwork for you! So sit back, grab that notebook and read on for the best TFT builds and comps!
Poisonous Predator Build
Who You'll Need: Kog'Maw, Skarner and Singed%0DBest For: Beginning Players%0DHow to Get There: If you start the first few rounds with a slew of predators, this is a great opportunity for you to grab them and upgrade them as fast as you can because many of the units (Kog'Maw, Warwick and Rek'Sai) cost only a couple of coins at most. Because you're taking and beefing up these predators and saving money, you'll be able to get your more expensive units (Singed and Twitch) as soon as they appear. When this happens, get ready to strike; having three poisonous champions on the field makes it difficult for casters to keep their mana stocked due to the increased costs for spells. %0DWhy It Works: This build will give you a running start: in addition to being cheaper, the three predator champions can get instant kills once enemies get at 25% health. This will help you get those extra coins to buy extra units down the road.
Shadow Blade Build
Who You'll Need: Sivir and Master Yi%0DBest For: Experienced Players%0DHow to Get There: You'll want to chill until around the third round when you can nab both Yasuo and Malzahar, who both have the lowest cost in your crew of two coins. During that time, you should look into building up your items, such as the Hextech Gunblade, that gives health back from damaging the opposition. Around the fifth round, you should be looking for team captain Sivir, Kindred and Sion, who each cost three coins each. Getting to the higher rounds is where this build gets tricky; Master Yi only has a 10% pull rate, and that is at the ninth round.%0DWhy It Works: While this build does focus on shadow champions, you're going to capitalize on five additional bonuses.
Poisonous Cloud Build
Who You'll Need: Twitch and Singed%0DBest For: Intermediate Players%0DHow to Get There: The key to this build is to mix both cloud and poison champions. The first champion that you should be on the lookout for Yasso, who is the lowest-costing unit at two coins. When the fifth round arrives, you should be waiting for Janna, Dr. Mundo and Ashe. Once you hit those higher rounds, you'll pick up both team captains Singed and Twitch. By the time you're done collecting your units, you should have three poison units, which will slow your opposing team's casters' spells from hitting you as well as two crystal units, which will buff your casters with extra magic damage.%0DWhy It Works: With a poison debuff on the opposition's casters, there will be fewer heals going out, and with your casters getting an extra damage perk, it's only a matter of time before your enemy falls.
Senna's Squad
Who You'll Need: Senna and Kindred%0DBest For: Intermediate Players%0DHow to Get There: During the early part of the game, you only have two goals; grab Senna and Malzahar for a shadow buff as well as rangers Vayne and Varus. Item wise, you're going to want to craft the Morellonomicon to pass to Senna to create a pretty nasty DoT. During the mid-game, grab wardens Braum and Nasus to help build up the team's armor as well as Sion to add to the shadow synergy. Now you're going to hunt down Ezreal and Ashe to buff the other archers in the group. Toward the end of the game, you're going to be looking for S-tiered champions Taric, Amumu and Kindred.%0DWhy This Works: When you mix rangers with any kind of damage increasing capability, it's magic; rangers are able to attack multiple times, and if a damage buff is in play, it makes them ten times more lethal.
Beefy Berserkers Build
Who You'll Need: Dr. Mundo, Olaf and Volibear%0DBest For: Beginning Players%0DHow to Get There: You have only one goal in this build: to gather all the berserkers that you can. From the get-go, you're going to grab Volibear, Jax and Renekton, to create a three-way berserker synergy. Another champion to look for is Ornn, who will create a killer electric synergy with Volibear. During the middle rounds, keep an eye out for the last three berserkers Olaf, Sion and Dr. Mundo. One of the cool things about this build is that a lot of what you're looking for are going to appear during those first few rounds so upgrading them will be a piece of cake.%0DWhy It Works: When you're first starting TFT, things can be complex, and if you're only looking for one thing (berserkers), it makes things a little less stressful.
Wardens with Tasers Build
Who You'll Need: Braum, Azir and Zed%0DBest For: Experienced Players%0DHow to Get There: After grabbing Volibear for two coins, you're going to hunt down fellow wardens Braum and Ornn, who will take advantage of Volibear's glacial and electric origins, creating three synergies at one time. Because these units are on the cheaper side, work on upgrading them while looking for Azir during the middle rounds and after. During the middle rounds, you're going to continue to upgrade the champions you've received earlier while keeping an eye out for Nautilus, Kha'Zix and Thresh. Finish off your team with Zed and Lux, who will add extra damage.%0DWhy This Works: Wardens can be hard to deal with especially when they're in groups. When you have four units with 275% extra armor, your opposition will have problems.
The "Full Metal Alchemist" Build
Who You'll Need: Zed, Singed and Nami%0DBest For: Intermediate Players%0DClasses to Shoot For: Assassins, Mystics and Summoners%0DHow to Get There: In the first few rounds, watch for Leblanc while building an army using units that cost very little; this will help build a solid base for the big spending you're going to need later. During that middle cycle, you're going to shift gears, grabbing champions Soraka and Kha'Zix, who will complement both Nami's and Zed's classes, while arming them with a dragon's claw that could work with both Zed and Singed. The minute you get Singed on the field, watch as your assassins take advantage of hitting the enemies affected by his poison cloud ability.%0DWhy This Works: Singed is the only alchemist in the game and with good reason; his class ability to ignore collisions as well as dispensing gas, makes him a bit like a grenade: once he goes off, all of your troops will reap the benefits.
Light Fluffy Clouds Build
Who You'll Need: Vayne, Yasso and Aatrox%0DBest for: Beginning Players%0DHow to Get There: During the first rounds, you're going to focus on getting champions Vayne and Nasus, starting your light synergy early. At the middle rounds, you're going to scout out Jax, Yasuo and Aatrox. When you reach the final rounds, grab Janna, Lux and Yorick and watch this build speed through your enemies. %0DWhy it Works: This build is all about speed; when you start building your light synergy, it will increase your units' attack speeds, and when the clouds come into play, they'll have a foggy field to zip around.
"Great Balls of Fire" Build
Who You'll Need: Annie and Zed%0DBest For: Experienced Players%0DWhat to Look For: Inferno Origin and Summoners%0DHow to Get There: While keeping an eye out for summoners Malzahar and Zyra, you're going to want to get coins quickly by either taking a sacrificing some health for rerolls or grabbing units you know you can get rid of comfortably. During the middle rounds, keep an eye out for Melgar and Azir, and you're going to want to build items that would help a caster team like Seraph's Embrace or a Mage's Cap. Finish off your team with Annie and Brand, and you'll be ready to smoke the opposition!%0DWhy It Works: A summoner and inferno combo is an awesome thing to watch come together: three inferno origin champions increase damage by 80% and summoners increase the duration of attacks depending on how many are out on the field.
Nocturne's Nastiness Squad
Who You'll Need: Nocturne, Sivir and Kha'Zix%0DBest For: Intermediate Players%0DHow to Get There: Built to hit hard and fast, start with low-costing assassins Diana and Leblanc as well as blademaster Yasuo, while searching for the components to craft the Blade of the Ruined King. During mid-game, keep an eye out for Sivir, Qiyana and Kha'zix. At the very end, you're going to grab Nocturne and trade in the unit with the Blade of the Ruined King to arm him with it, creating three synergies at once. If you haven't crafted it, take heart; this build will still work, but it won't be as strong.%0DWhy It Works: Arming one of your assassins with the Blade of the Ruined King can create additional attacks. Couple that with the crit bonus that the assassins get when on the field, and it's a recipe for success.
Fire Water Build
Who You'll Need: Brand and Yorick%0DBest For: Experienced Players%0DHow to Get There: During the first few rounds, be on the hunt for Zyra, Vladamir and Diana, who compliment Brand's infernal origin and his mage class. Item wise, you should look to craft either a jeweled gauntlet or Rabadon's Deathcap, which will help Brand's spell power. During the mid-game, start looking for Annie, Thresh, Syndra and Nautilus, which will create the ocean synergy. Toward the end rounds, you'll want to get Brand and Yorick, who are both S-tiered fighters. Be sure to arm Brand with his items once you get him out to ensure a sure victory.%0DWhy This Works: A group of mages when you get them together can cause quite a bit of drama: getting three on the field can create a double-cast situation, where one caster can get two hits with one spell.
Shady Summoners Build
Who You'll Need: Kindred and Malzahar%0DBest For: Intermediate Players%0DHow to Get There: When you start, you're going to want to snag Varus, Diana, Zyra and Vayne; this will create three synergies to start with rangers and infernals. Keeping these four units together is key until you can find and buy summoners Yorick and Malzahar as well as shadow units Sion and Kindred. In order to protect the units, you're going to need some brawn, and for this, we recommend that you pick up wardens Thresh and Nautilius, who will also create an ocean synergy, giving the casters an increase in mana regeneration.%0DWhy This Works: Champions with shadow origin are capable of making one powerful combination when they get together: when four of them gather, the damage is increased by 100%. Couple that with the summoners' ability to grant an extra 40% damage, and one strike from any of these champions can prove deadly.
